Our Mission

At The Broken Road Project, we believe no one should walk the road of medical trauma alone. We are a national nonprofit devoted to lifting up those whose lives have been forever changed by neurological, cardiac, spinal, or traumatic brain injuries. Through heartfelt connection, physical care, and meaningful financial support, we help survivors find their way back to life, purpose, and hope. Our mission is to be the steady hand, the listening ear, and the open heart—turning pain into progress, and broken roads into new beginnings.

Our Why

Every 40 seconds, someone experiences a stroke. Millions more face life-altering medical crises that leave them feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and uncertain of their future.
At The Broken Road Project, we believe no one should walk that road alone.
Through community, compassion, and Christ-centered encouragement, we help survivors and their families, find purpose, healing, and hope again.

Meet Our Founder

Trent Peterson

In May 2024, Trent Peterson’s life changed in an instant when he suffered a stroke at the age of 46. As a resident of Stephenville, Texas, Trent built his career in the dirt work industry for over 20 years where he became known for his grit, work ethic, and big heart. But after his stroke, he found himself navigating an entirely new kind of challenge: physical recovery, emotional healing, and spiritual growth. With the unwavering support of his wife, Amber, and their 8-year-old son, River, Trent leaned on his Christian faith to guide him through the hardest season of his life. Out of that journey came The Broken Road Project, a ministry born from pain, built on purpose, and driven by a deep desire to help others know they’re not alone on the road to recovery.
